Materials Information Consultant

Sarah Franklin, Materials Information Consultant, works on the technical team to provide clients with support to fully realize the potential of their Materials Data in the ANSYS’s GRANTA MI software. She brings a well-rounded wealth of knowledge and industry experience. She has spent the last ten years in the automotive, research, and additive manufacturing fields.

In her past experience she worked with Materials Testing, CNC Machining/Assembly, Quality Control, Administration, LGBTQ Diversity and Inclusion Speaking and Facilitation, and Training. As a member of the Chemistry student body at IUPUI, Sarah extensively studied the discipline of Chemistry with an eye on material science. As a researcher, she helped bring about two new novel products: A polymer coating for medical implants and a completely biodegradable/compostable plastic for 3D printing. This instilled a love for product and process development.

Sarah is a recent graduate of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI); completing a B.S. in Chemistry and is certified from the American Chemical Society. A jack of all trades, she has certifications in various industries such as ASTM: Principles of Failure Analysis, Speaking on Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Presenting Technical Information with Stories, and Additive Manufacturing: Materials for 3d printing.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys playing video games/card games such as Overwatch, Stardew Valley, and Magic the Gathering. She is an avid reader with interests spanning fantasy novels to technical material science manuals. She is an artist and loves to oil paint landscapes. She also has two dogs (Willow and Poe) that she loves to spoil.

She is a big supporter of continuous improvement and believes that “A little progress each day adds up to big results.” Sarah thrives on solving problems. She enjoys the interconnectivity of subjects and uses that knowledge to create masterful solutions for her customers.
